10 New Summer Adventures at Stone Mountain Park

Stone Mountain Park offers one adventure after another with the traditional attractions such as the Sky Ride, Scenic Railroad, Antebellum Plantation and Farmyard, Memorial Hall and Museum, Ride the Ducks, Adventure Golf and The Great Barn. In addition to these attractions, Summer at the Rock offers 10 new adventures for families to enjoy.

1.                  Guests can engage all the senses in the all-new Journey to the Center of the Earth 4D Adventure. Excitement is guaranteed in this condensed version of the popular film as the film’s explorers are plunged into a strange world beneath the Earth’s surface. Fish with razor-sharp teeth and dinosaurs will also be along for the ride.

2.                  Young and young at heart can trek through the treetops on the nation’s largest adventure course, Sky Hike. SkyHikers select from a 12 ft. trail for beginners, a 24 ft. trail for the courageous or the 40 ft. trail for the true daredevil. With over a quarter of a mile course, no two hikes are the same.

3.                  Families can feed a crowd at the new Marketplace. This open style market provides lots of fresh meal and snack choices. For a lighter course, pick from deli sandwiches, salads, fresh fruit, yogurt, granola or one of the many baked goods. Heartier meal options include pizza, hamburgers, grilled chicken sandwiches or chicken strips. Ice cream or freshly made fudge round out the offering.

4.                  Families can leave the Lasershow picnic baskets behind without worrying. The all-new Marketplace has everything they need to enjoy a meal on the lawn. From full-sized potato chips and dip to an assortment of candy, all groups can enjoy your meal under the stars in one of Marketplace’s reusable picnic bags. Forgot the blanket too? No worries, Marketplace has a variety to choose from.

5.                  For families who love camping but dislike the work it takes to set up a camp site, then Stone Mountain Park Family Campground has the perfect solution. Ready, Set, Camp! offers a camping adventure without the hassle. Families simply drive up to their campsite with the four-person tent, four sleeping pads and lantern already set and anticipating their arrival.

6.                  For the best deal on a close-to-home getaway, families can check out the Marriott Evergreen Resort. Here, they can savor nature as the resort is surrounded with lush trees and a sparkling lake. Family Escape Packages offer savings and relaxation.

7.                  Parents can teach kids about being “green” at Crossroads. At Stone Mountain Park’s new eco store, the Green Scene, kids can learn how to recycle, plant and make bird feeders.

8.                  Nature lovers are in for a treat at the all-new Wonders of Nature show located in the Dogwood Theatre. Up-close encounters with flying squirrels, birds and snakes will have audiences squirming in their seats.

9.                  The all-new Big Thinkers Science Exploration Show unravels the mystery of electricity and air. Two rotating shows, “It’s Electric” and “Air Up There” can be seen at the Magnolia Theatre.

10.              Families can stay the evening and celebrate Georgia during the famed Lasershow Spectacular™. An all-new tribute to Georgia musicians includes an array of artists such as Otis Redding, Little Richard, Indigo Girls, Outkast, REM, Allman Brothers, B52’s and James Brown.
