Overview of Evergreen Hiking Trails

Welcome to Stone Mountain Park, where adventure awaits you on our picturesque hiking trails. Immerse yourself in nature as you explore the Evergreen Hiking Trails, comprised of Bluebird, Hawk, and Heron trails, all conveniently accessible from the same trailhead. Each trail is clearly marked with signs and vibrant colored arrows.

For a leisurely stroll, embark on the Bluebird Trail, the shortest route spanning just half a mile. This beginner-friendly trail is marked with blue signs and offers a relatively level terrain. The Bluebird Trail features an out-and-back path with a charming loop at the end. Along the way, you’ll encounter Look Out Rock, a perfect spot to admire the breathtaking views, as well as a cozy picnic area.

If you’re seeking a slightly more challenging hike, set off on the Hawk Trail, measuring 1.5 miles in length. This trail is marked by red signs and forms a loop that takes you along the shores of Stone Mountain Lake and through forests. Starting alongside the Bluebird Trail, it leads you through captivating landscapes, including the notable landmarks of Gospel Oaks and Pride Rock, both conveniently indicated by trail signs.

For a more extensive adventure, embark on the Heron Trail, the longest among the three, stretching just over 1 mile. Blazed in vibrant green, this trail is best experienced by following a counterclockwise route to ensure clear guidance along this beloved path. The Heron Trail initially follows the path of the Hawk Trail, but in the opposite direction, before branching off into a scenic loop trail towards the west.

How to Prepare For Your Hike

Necessary Gear
