Admission to the Classic Lasershow is FREE!

The Lasershow Spectacular debuted in 1983 on the world’s largest screen, the 825-foot-tall granite outcropping.

In 2008, for the 25th anniversary, the sound system and pyrotechnics for the Lasershow were amped up. The music selections were also diversified to match the increasingly diverse audience.

Innovative when the show launched, the lasers, over time, began to look elementary. In 2011, Mountainvision was launched employing state-of-the-art digital video projection to give the show 3-D-like effects without the need for 3-D glasses. Video opened up a dramatic difference and allowed for new options that the lasers weren’t capable of. Mountainvision can do things like, turn Stone Mountain into a Volcano spewing lava down its sides or the rock crumble right before your eyes. The projection is five times the size of an IMAX screen and taller than the Statue of Liberty! It’s like watching a 5,500-inch high definition TV.

Did The Lasershow Go Away?

After 40 years of illuminating the night sky and delighting audiences of all ages, the iconic Lasershow at Stone Mountain Park has been shelved. This beloved tradition has been a staple in Atlanta, captivating millions of visitors from around the world with its stunning visuals and breathtaking displays. With the show being outdated and in need of a revamp Stone Mountain Park has decided to bid farewell to the Lasershow and replace it with a state-of-the-art production that is bigger, brighter, and more breathtaking than ever.

Is There A New Show?

Stone Mountain Park invested in new Light Show technology in 2023 that offers a way to produce imagery not available with the classic Lasershow.

This new immersive experience boasts ten times more lumens, ten times larger video projection, and ten times more laser beams than the classic Lasershow. Featuring the latest in digital video technology, sound, and lighting, the Light Show will dazzle with its vibrant colors and dynamic animations. Using state-of-the-art projectors and a combination of 3D mapping techniques, this high-definition show is the most visually stunning production yet.

The Music Across America Light Show is bigger, brighter, and more breathtaking than ever with completely immersive lighting, cutting-edge surround sound, more fireworks, lasers and flame effects, new music tracks, and a Drone Show with 250 color-changing drones synchronized to music. The show creates a magnificent display of light and sound that will transport you to another world.

This updated technology gives the flexibility to offer different shows throughout the year including during Lunar New Year, Dino Fest, Latino Family Festival, Bollywood Indian Festival, Pumpkin Festival, and Stone Mountain Christmas Light Shows. The catalog of light shows is expected to double from six to twelve over the next two years. And of course, the classic Lasershow will remain part of the catalog of light shows and reappear periodically.

Will The Classic Lasershow Come Back?

Stone Mountain Park is very excited to be bringing an ALL-NEW Light Show to the park. We also know many people have fond and nostalgic memories of the classic Lasershow Spectacular.  The classic Lasershow will remain part of the catalog of light shows and will reappear periodically.
