Here are our top 5 recreational activities that we’re sure you’ll love. Hiking Trails Take in the beauty of nature on one of our many hiking trails. You have the option to walk, jog, or bike on most of these trails. Plus, they vary in terrain, length, and difficulty, so there is something for everyone. For breathtaking and widespread views, get moving for a 1.1-mile trek up the mountain. The trail can be rocky and steep in some areas, so make sure you are prepared and have adequate footwear. The best time to go is in the early morning to watch the sunrise or later in the evening for a stunning sunset. For a leisurely stroll around the mountain, the Cherokee Loop Trail is a 5-mile trail through an oak-hickory woodland with sights of the lake, some great views, and a close-up encounter with nature. Fishing in Stone Mountain Lake When you go out on the water on our peaceful 323-acre lake, you will have a different view of the natural surroundings and can watch wildlife from a unique perspective. Fishing is allowed from 6 am until midnight, and our lake is full of five types of fish: bass, carp, catfish, bream, and crappie. We sell bait in the General Store in the campground area or you’re welcome to bring your own. Private boats are allowed on the lake and must be launched from the public boat ramp near the Evergreen Pavilion. Golfing On our two championship golf courses, you have access to plenty of open space and picturesque views. The Lakemont Course is a less challenging course that loops around the tranquil lake. The Stonemont Course is more vigorous due to the tight fairways. No matter your skill level or which course you choose to golf, you’re sure to enjoy your time outdoors and the relaxing recreation at Stone Mountain.
