Stone Mountain Park Activities Festivals & Events Easter Sunrise Service Easter Sunrise Service Experience serenity and peace as Stone Mountain Park presents two simultaneous, inter-denominational Easter services at the top of the mountain and at the base of the mountain on the Memorial Lawn. Special guests Bryant Wright and Crawford Loritts will be delivering the message at the top of the mountain. Bryant is the Founder and Chairman of Right From The Heart Ministries, an international media ministry, which he began in 1992. He is also the President of the international relief organization, Send Relief. He retired as the founding Senior Pastor of Johnson Ferry Baptist Church in 2019. Crawford is President and Founder of Beyond Our Generation. He has been a church planter, served for 27 years on the staff of Cru (Campus Crusade for Christ), and served for 15 years as Sr. Pastor of Fellowship Bible Church in Roswell. EVENT DETAILS Park Gates will open at 3:00 AM and the Summit Skyride will open at 4:00 AM to begin taking guests to the summit. Services will begin at 7:00 AM. Please allow at least an extra hour due to expected large crowds. Both services will feature sign language interpreters for hearing impaired guests. EVENT HISTORY The event began in 1944 before the land around Stone Mountain was officially owned by the State of Georgia. Lucille A. Lanford, from Stone Mountain First United Methodist Church, suggested that the church’s youth group climb to the top of Stone Mountain on Easter morning to watch the sunrise. The event grew from that one youth group to thousands ascending the mountain every Easter since. TICKETS Vehicle entry to the park is $20 for a one-day permit or $40 for an annual permit. Church vans and buses enter free. Skyride fees are $20 for round-trip and $15 for one-way. There are no fees for the walk-up trail to the top of the mountain. Stone Mountain Park Activities Festivals & Events A Tour of Southern Ghosts A Tour of Southern Ghosts Join the Atlanta family tradition and meet professional storytellers spinning their tales of famous (and not-so-famous) Southern Ghosts along the lantern-lit paths of the Historic Square grounds at Stone Mountain Park. The guided tours take place between 7:00 PM and 9:30 PM on Fridays and Saturdays for the last 3 weekends in October. The stories are a little scary, many times humorous, but never too frightening and always appropriate for young children. Each night offers a different cast of six storytellers, which means audience members may return to “A Tour of Southern Ghosts” on additional nights to hear a new collection of stories. July 1 – 7. The Light Show begins at 9:30 PM and the fireworks immediately follow. The show is the same all 7 nights. How much is the Light Show? Memorial Lawn seating for the Light Show is included with an Attractions Ticket or $10 per person for a Light Show Only Ticket during each night of the Fantastic Fourth Celebration. Do Mountain Members need a ticket? July 4 requires a ticket to see the Light Show and Fireworks. All other nights during the Fantastic Fourth event are FREE for members. Due to the heavy traffic and large crowds associated with the 4th of July weekend and holiday, we do not rent any of our Private Picnic Facilities, including the covered pavilions. They cannot be reserved over the July 4th weekend or on July 4th itself and we will not give anyone permission to use these facilities on these dates. While many of these covered pavilions may have been occupied on those dates in prior years, those guests did not have the facility reserved and did not have permission to use the facility. Unfortunately, pets are not allowed at the Fantastic Fourth Celebration so we ask that you please make the appropriate arrangements for your pet prior to attending the Festival.
